Aid desperately needed in Broad channel, Rockaway Beach and Breezy point, Queens

As we move into the 3rd day of devastation following Hurricane Sandy, there is no sign of FEMA or the Red Cross in the Rockaways. This area includes the communities of Broad Channel, Breezy Point and Rockaway Beach, without a doubt neighborhoods that have suffered the strongest blows from Hurricane Sandy. As Mayor Bloomberg moves on and makes speeches about the New York Marathon, traffic and cancelled NBA games, thousands of human beings in these neighborhoods are hungry, cold and losing hope. Folks have lost all they own and are waiting for any kind of assistance. This can not go on another day. Efforts are being made organize in the community, but they need help.

  1. What about us folks down in Far Rockaway? We can’t even get a line in your blog let alone a mention from Bloomberg! :(

    • We have 3 sites in Far Rockaway that have been operational for 3 days. Please look at the drop off locations!
