VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR SATURDAY 11/17
At our main distribution centers (Jacobi and 520 Clinton), you can just show up. You can also catch shuttles there to the Rockaways and other relief sites. We request that new volunteers come to either Jacobi or 520 Clinton as their first stop in order to receive important training and information. Please also visit our Resources Page for important safety information for volunteers.

SHEEPSHEAD BAY POP-UP RECOVERY
The Sheepshead Bay Pop-Up Recovery needs a big crew of volunteers this weekend to help remove debris from people’s homes and help with mold removal. People who can do heavy lifting and who aren’t afraid to get dirty are highly needed! You will be working in an amazing community alongside residents with incredible stories. Please come to our Pop-Up Recovery Site on the corner of Emmons Ave & Brown St. We’re open between 10 am- 5 pm tomorrow Sunday.
Heavy duty garbage bags, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, borax, sponges, mops, heavy gloves, water, batteries and snack food are needed.

We will need volunteers to help with deliveries out to local shelters and food pantries from 10am to 2pm on Sunday.
**New Brunswick
Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen
We need the following supplies:
– Non-perishable foods
– Baby formula
– Diapers
**Newark
New Hope Baptist Church:
We need lots of volunteers for sorting deliveries that come in hourly, go out just as fast. They serve 600 meals daily, lots to do.
St. John’s Soup kitchen:
We need people to take in deliveries, stock shelves.
**Belmar
Jersey Shore Dream Center [2901 18th Avenue, Wall, N.J.], needs volunteers.

You do not need specific skills for this type of work, just a willingness to get dirty and help. Our experienced team leaders will guide your work efforts and keep you safe on the
job. If you do have experience or skills in construction, demolition, engineering, or environmental assessment, please let us know.

THANKSGIVING!
Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York remains one of the most affected areas by Hurricane Sandy. To bring some joy and support to the people there, community activist and writer Kevin Powell is asking for your help leading into Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 22nd:
1) We need to collect 2000 turkeys to be donated to residents of Coney Island. Fresh turkeys can be dropped off or shipped to:

If dropping off turkeys, please do so on these dates and times at the address above:
Tuesday, November 20 – 12noon-2pm
Wednesday, November 21 – 12noon-2pm
2) Also, 40-50 volunteers needed to distribute the turkeys on these dates
and times:

Wednesday, November 21 – 12noon-3pm
3) Finally, there is still a great need for as many warming/heating pads and blankets as possible, as many residents in Coney Island remain without heat. These items can also be dropped off or shipped to the address above.
