FREE ROCKAWAY RECOVERY SHUTTLE 38th St. – 129th St.

The Visiting Nurse Service will be providing 6 – 6 passenger Minivans to shuttle people around the Island. This is a shuttle route that they and others (volunteer drivers/ other companies) can continue to do as long as they put the attached info in their car and drive the route. This can then become somehing that the community and the volunteers (like yourselves) can rely on to possibly get around. Please help get the word out about this so that people can use it. Attached is a flyer to put up wherever is needed to spread the word as well as the dashboard information.

MAYOR BLOOMBERG ANNOUNCES MOBILE MEDICAL VANS ARE PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE AND PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AT LOCATIONS IN CONEY ISLAND, AND ROCKAWAYS; STATEN ISLAND SERVICE BEGINS TODAY

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced today that mobile medical vans staffed with primary care providers who will be able to provide medical care and distribute commonly prescribed drugs are now at several of the City’s Disaster Assistance Service Centers in the Rockaways and Coney Island, as well as two additional high-need locations in the Rockaways. There is a particular need for pharmaceuticals in the Rockaways because of a limited number of pharmacies still open and able to fulfill prescriptions. Continue reading

Also tomorrow, courtesy of some very generous donors, we’re getting 300 flashlights and 2 Uhaul trucks full of donations, that will be distributed mainly at Public Housing Projects on B54, where 30,000 residents have thus far received no aid beyond bagels distributed by other community members.
